"Tradition is beautiful but evolution is better." Ivy Lynn
A friend sent me that quote from her journal. She asked me to expand on it within my own thoughts. The first thing I thought about was whoa that's beauty in thought. I first thought about how it relates to investing your finances.
It applies to life in general. Tradition isn't always good. Tradition isn't always bad. Some traditions should be maintained. Some traditions should be out casted. What is a Tradition? A cultural habit is all tradition is. Cultural traditions should be upheld, the positive ones. Individual traditions are just habits.
All habits are not positive. When I think of traditions I think of cultural habits. When I think of habits I think of individual habits I repeat on a regular basis. The connotation of the word "tradition" is what a group of similar people do. The connotation of the word "habit" is what an individual does.
Everyday I'm constantly rewiring the habits I have as an individual based on how they pertain to the goals I set for myself. We all cultivate negative and self destructive habits and the purpose is to fight those and replace them with habits that lead us to our finish lines.
Earlier today I was thinking if the rich and wealthy allocate 30% of their income to their bills and invest the other 70%, as someone in a much lower tax bracket, what happens if I allocate 50% of my income to my bills and invest the other 50%?
I would definitely reach my retirement goals much quicker than I am now. I was pondering on the outcome of such a habit all day. Imagine investing 50 cents from every dollar I touch. Just the thought alone makes me want to be called "50 Cents Chizzi".
The name sounds weird but I'm not calling myself worth 50 cents, I'm saying I invest half of every dollar I touch. That would put me culturally on the respect level of media moguls like Birdman and Master P.
When it comes to how I look at money that's all I'm trying to do all day. Rewire my thinking and evolve. Evolving from rewiring my thinking. Thank you Ivy for encapsulating those thoughts in one simple quote. 🤔🤔🤔
