THE FUTURE IS CLOSER THAN WE THINK. THE FUTURE IS HARD TO SPOT, UNTIL IT IS OUR DAILY LIFE. I WANT TO IMPART IN YOUR MINDS, THE MINDSET OF ONE, WHO CAN SEE INTO THE FUTURE. WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE? THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. THE FUTURE IS HARD TO SEE COMING. THE TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION HAS ARRIVED HALF A CENTURY AGO. IT MAY HAVE BEEN LONGER THAN THIS. I WAS BORN ON DECEMBER 29TH, 1989 IN MIAMI, FLORIDA. I WAS BORN IN THE DIGITAL AGE AND THE INFORMATION AGE. MY GENERATION, THE MILLENNIAL, HAS BEEN BOMBARDED WITH AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF INFORMATION. UNPRECEDENTED, AS IN, NEVER BEFORE SEEN. THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO DESCRIBE THE HOW THE FUTURE LOOKS. THE FUTURE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. BACK IN THE DAYS OF THE HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE, AN AGE WE CAN HARDLY IMAGINE BEING THRUST INTO, THE HENRY FORD T MODEL AUTOMOBILE WAS UNPRECEDENTED.
WHEN YOU SEE A TECHNOLOGY UNLIKE ANYTHING ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE, YOU ARE STARING AT THE FUTURE. IT WILL BE HARD FOR YOU TO COMPREHEND IT MENTALLY. THEN IT IS UP TO YOU TO ASK YOURSELF, WHAT IF THIS REALLY WORKS? DON'T WORRY ABOUT IF IT WILL FAIL, THOSE THOUGHTS WILL HOLD YOU BACK IN FEAR. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE AROUND WILL BE ASKING WHAT IF IT FAILS? THEY WILL TAKE NO ACTION AT ALL. CLOSE YOUR EYES AND IMAGINE THE FUTURE WHERE THESE TECHNOLOGIES DO EXIST. I BELIEVE IN STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND ALSO INVESTING IN BUSINESSES OTHERS HAVE STARTED. WHAT BUSINESS SHOULD YOU START FOR YOURSELF? ONLY YOU CAN ANSWER SUCH A QUESTION. YOU MUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART. YOU WILL GROW UP IN A TIME OF MUCH CONFUSION. YOU WILL ALSO GROW UP IN A TIME OF MUCH OPPORTUNITY. MY JOB, AS A WRITER, IS TO WRITE MATERIAL MAKING IT EASIER FOR YOU TO SUCCEED IN LIFE. I HAVE NO CHILDREN. THE CHILDREN OF THE NEXT GENERATION ARE IMPORTANT TO ME. IF I EVER HAVE CHILDREN, THEY WILL BE A PART OF YOUR GENERATION.
MY GENERATION HAS SEEN NOTHING BUT TECHNOLOGY ADVANCE. WE HAVE WATCHED TECHNOLOGY ADVANCE SO MUCH WE TAKE IT FOR GRANTED. THE GENERATION RAISING US WAS AFRAID OF TECHNOLOGY FOR THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HELD. MY GENERATION HAS GROWN UP WATCHING THE FUTURE UNFOLD WITH A FEAR OF INVESTING IN IT. I FIND MYSELF IN THE MIDDLE. I AM NOT AFRAID OF INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY, WHETHER OR NOT I AGREE WITH WHAT SUCH A FUTURE IMPLIES. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY, YOU DO NOT WANT TO LIVE AS A SLAVE TO THE DOLLAR. ONE GREAT WAY, TO NOT LIVE AS A SLAVE TO THE DOLLAR, IS TO INVEST YOUR DOLLARS IN FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE TECHNOLOGIES IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO, MAYBE YOU WOULD LIKE TO RETIRE EARLY. RETIRE EARLY BY INVESTING IN THE FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. HERE ARE SOME KEYWORDS I HAVE LEARNED TO USE, TO HELP FIGURE OUT WHAT INDUSTRIES TO INVEST IN.
IN MY TWENTIES, FROM THE AGES OF SEVENTEEN TO TWENTY SEVEN, I WAS INTIMIDATED BY INVESTING IN STOCKS. A STOCK IS A SHARE OF A BUSINESS SOMEONE ELSE CREATED. WHEN I WAS EIGHTEEN, I MET A BORDERS BOOKSTORE WORKER WHO INVESTED IN STOCKS. HE TAUGHT IS COLLEGE STUDENT SON TO BUY STOCKS. HIS SON MADE $30,000 IN EITHER ONE DAY OR ONE MONTH. WHICHEVER ONE IT WAS, IS IMPRESSIVE. I COULD NOT THEN FATHOM OR FIGURE OUT HOW ONE COULD DO THAT. NOW, AT TWENTY NINE, I DEFINITELY SEE SEVERAL WAYS OF HOW THIS WAS POSSIBLE. THE FIRST STEP IS TO CONTROL YOUR SPENDING HABITS. WE SPEND OUR DOLLARS ON BILLS, THE REST OF THE EARNED DOLLARS ARE CALLED OUR DISPOSABLE INCOME. MOST PEOPLE WILL SPEND EVERY DISPOSABLE DOLLAR ON OUR HABITS. SOME HABITS ARE GOOD, SOME HABITS ARE BAD. YOU MUST GET RID OF ANY BAD HABITS.
BEING A MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT, YOU HAVE YET TO PICK UP BAD ECONOMIC BAD HABITS. MY BIGGEST DOWNFALL IN MY TWENTIES WAS THAT I PICKED UP BAD HABITS. SMOKING AND DRINKING IS A BAD HABIT AND AN INCREDIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. AT TWENTY NINE, I REALIZE, WE ALL EARN A FORTUNE. IT ARRIVES PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. WHEN WE SQUANDER, OR WASTE OUR DISPOSABLE INCOME ON BAD HABITS, WE ARE WASTING OUR FORTUNE. WHEN WE SQUANDER OUR DISPOSABLE INCOME, WE ARE SQUANDERING OUR FORTUNES. EVERY EARNS A FORTUNE, ONE DOLLAR AT A TIME. IT IS OUR BAD HABITS THAT WILL SQUANDER OUR FORTUNES, ONE DOLLAR AT A TIME. AT TWENTY NINE, THE LAST YEAR OF MY TWENTIES, I FIND MYSELF AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD. YOUR THIRTY YEAR MARK ON EARTH, IS THE FORK IN THE ROAD. IF THE ROAD TURNS INTO A FORK, WHICH WAY WILL YOU GO. THIS IS WHERE I FIND MYSELF NOW. YOU WILL ONE DAY FIND YOURSELF THERE. I WANT NOTHING MORE BUT TO HELP YOU MAKE THE RIGHT TURN. THE FORK IN THE ROAD IS WHERE YOU DECIDE WHAT PERSON YOU WILL BECOME.
I WAS NOT ABLE TO RETIRE IN MY TWENTIES AND I BLAME MYSELF. PRESIDENT NUMBER 35 SAID "AN ERROR DOES NOT BECOME A MISTAKE, UNTIL WE REFUSE TO CORRECT IT." I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE MISTAKES IN MY TWENTIES AND I WANT TO HELP YOU ON YOUR ROAD TO SUCCESS. ALWAYS BE WILLING TO HELP OTHERS WITH WHAT YOU LEARN. KNOWLEDGE IS MEANT TO BE IMPARTED. PASS ON WHAT YOU KNOW TO THE FUTURE GENERATIONS. LIFE IS TIMED AND NO ONE KNOWS FOR A FACT, HOW MANY YEARS WE ARE GIVEN ON EARTH. SHARE WHAT YOU LEARN, SO THE FUTURE CAN BENEFIT FROM IT THE SAME WAY YOU PLAN TO BENEFIT FROM IT. IF I AM NOT AROUND TO INVEST IN THE FUTURE I SEE SO CLEARLY, AT LEAST OTHERS I HAVE SHARED THE INFORMATION WITH CAN. HERE ARE THE KEYWORDS.
EMERGING MARKETS IS THE FIRST KEYWORD. EMERGING MEANS UPCOMING. MARKET MEANS INDUSTRIES. YOU BUY SHARES OR STOCKS IN CERTAIN INDUSTRIES. THE SPECIFIC INDUSTRIES I LOOK AT, ARE THE EMERGING INDUSTRIES. THE NEXT KEYWORD IS MARKET CAPITALIZATION. CAPITALIZATION IS HOW MUCH MONEY THE INDUSTRY WILL BE WORTH. CAPITAL IS A TERM MEANING MONEY USED FOR STARTING A BUSINESS. WHEN YOU WANT TO START A BUSINESS, YOU NEED CAPITAL. THE BUSINESSES YOU WANT TO START WILL REQUIRE CAPITAL. USE THE MONEY YOU EARN FROM ALLOWANCE OR JOBS TO INVEST IN STOCKS, OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESSES, THEN USE THE RETURN ON THOSE INVESTMENTS, TO INVEST IN YOUR OWN BUSINESSES. IT MAY TAKE YOU A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHAT BUSINESSES YOU YOURSELF WANT TO START.
